AZSC: Classes- Introduction To Flyball

Just about any dog can learn to play Flyball. Whether your dog is big or small, or anything in-between, the ability to play is not dependent on breed or size. They just need to be able to have FUN!

From time to time we offer New Training classes. Classes are typically on Sunday mornings. They run for 6 weeks and are designed to introduce the basics of flyball to both the dog and the handler. No previous flyball experience is required but your dog must be at least 6 months of age, have basic obedience skills and be non-aggressive towards other people and dogs. Classes are $95 per 6 week session.

New to flyball and want to join? We are in the East-Valley. Send us an email:

Beginning Flyball Class includes, but is not limited to, the following:

         • Introduction to the jumps
         • Building on motivation...tug, toy or treat oriented
         • Retrieving the ball / dead ball game
         • Introduction to the box turn (Swimmer's turn)

Intermediate Class

The intermediate class picks up where the beginning class left off. You and your dog will continue to build on the skills covered in the beginner class and be introduced to:

         • The basics of performing a race
         • Refining the box turn
         • Distraction training
         • Passing and racing

Please come prepared! You will need a collar/harness and a 4-6 foot leash, a crate, and plenty of water for you and your dog. Please be sure to bring a special "motivator" for your dog to class - it can be treats, a tug, a special stuffed animal - just something that your dog loves and enjoys!

For more information on classes and or when the next one will be held, please see the class calendar or contact us with any questions you have.
